STORY
“Bright Sunny Days” is a modern-day love song with a twist, featuring lush guitars and violins which morph into flamboyant Spanish guitar and then a soaring rush of electric guitars. Written in the middle of summer on the white sands of Jervis Bay, Bright Sunny Days will transport you to a time of magic, love and mystery.
The debut LP ‘GHOSTHOUND’ will be released in early 2024 on Vinyl.
“Marty and I started writing songs together 5 years ago, made more interesting due to Marty being based in Europe while I live in the Northern Beaches of Sydney Australia. Technology enabled long distance songwriting.
We started writing together with the 4 songs that became our debut EP and realised pretty soon that there was a great vibe developing between us. Basic song structures deepened as we traded ideas – creating arrangements and spaces for lush arpeggios and driving lead parts, blended with the amazingly cool psychedelic vibe that Marty is known for. Most of the tracks on our forthcoming LP (GHOSTHOUND) were written this way, starting in the summer of 2021 with ongoing refinement and finalisation of demo’s by the end of the year.
Wind forward to 2022 with Marty in Australia for a solid month of writing and recording, in the amazing Midnight Oil “Oceanic” studio in Brookvale, Sydney. With a bevy of beautiful guitars and amps – many vintage pieces from the 60’s – and some of my handmade guitars, the creative vibe led to the creation of these beautiful songs. Of course, Rickenbackers were used across most of the songs with some old school country rock twang from a 1961 Gretsch Chet Atkins harking back to the best of The Pretenders. Our first single “Bright Sunny Days” started life as an ode to new love, with a twist in the tale (coz there’s always a twist in love stories)!”
